About Halleys Lighting & Design

Halleys Lighting & Design is Tasmania’s foremost lighting specialist. Family owned and operated for over 70 years; we are located in Devonport in Tasmania's North West coast. Our expert team of Lighting specialists are dedicated to bringing the best value and customer service to our customers no matter what their budget or location across Tasmania.

Our extensive lighting showroom located at 30 Oldaker Street in Devonport is the ultimate one-stop shop for all your lighting and fan needs. New products are constantly released and displayed in our showroom showcasing the latest in lighting innovation, design, and trends.

Our History

Family owned and operated since 1951, Halleys Bros. began when Bill and brother Glen Halley started up a small family business in Devonport from their home Garage in Madden Street Devonport, Both A Grade Electricians following in their father Jack’s footsteps.

They then moved to business premises in Steele Street Devonport in 1953 where their Mum Glad answered the phone and served while they were out contracting.

The next move was to 26 Rook Street Devonport 1957, where several Electricians worked for them on the contracting side, including Glen’s son Terry. They had a comprehensive showroom with lighting and brown and white goods.

They then had the vision; to be Everyone’s favourite Lighting store and they formed Halleys Lampland in 1977 and moved to the current location at 30 Oldaker Street Devonport.

Bill’s son Michael bought and ran the business from 1988 to 2001 and then daughter Lindy and husband Neil purchased the business in 2001 where it was renamed Halleys Lighting & Design to embrace the further services offered.

Halleys strive to be a well-respected local business in the Devonport community. Winning Devonport Retailer in 2020 was a real highlight for the business. Halleys is well known for its lighting showroom and amazing Christmas displays that delight the local community every year.
